ABOUT

Cornwall Community Darkroom

Cornwall Community Darkroom is a kind, safe, community space supporting wellbeing through creativity. We offer workshops, residencies, exhibitions, social meet-ups, professional development opportunities… and more! We teach traditional photography skills as well as new sustainable darkroom processes using the power of plants and the magic of nature.

Our community space is accessible and formed by people of all levels, ages and backgrounds to encourage openess, sharing and learning. Everyone is welcome!

Although we teach traditional photographic processes, we’re not your traditional darkroom and instead have created a comfy, laid-back, welcoming space. Mistakes are an important part of any creative process and a more relaxed atmosphere invites freedom, play and experimentation

Ethos:

Kindness is the number one priority of Cornwall

Community Darkroom. Through a mindful,

kind and caring approach we can

ensure a happy supported community where

people have the encouragement and freedom

to express themselves through creativity. This

approach extends to awareness of the

beautiful, wild landscape that surrounds us

and our responsibility to protect and look after

our environment.

  • Before using the darkroom it’s important you have a H&S induction. This will be included in your first workshop and can be refreshed at any time.

If you have any specific access requirements that you’d like to be considered to make the darkroom more accessible, safe or supportive to your needs please just ask.

  • As a shared space it’s very important to be mindful and respectful to others and there work. Creativity is a wonderful tool to express our individuality and CCD is an open space - all about building each other up!

We offer PhotoSocials, exhibitions, talks and opportunities for everyone to get involved and share creativity, find inspiration and connect to one another. New ideas for events and ways to grow the community are always welcome.

  • Sustainable processes are taught and encouraged! The magic of traditional photography can be found in nature and there’s incredible new research and experimentation being done to explore this.

Chemicals are disposed of safely and no chemicals are disposed of onsite to make sure the beautiful landscape that surrounds us stays beautiful - and happy!
